Creepy Crawlies Got You Down?

In some cases, you may well be able to solve the problem yourself.

  • Fleas: Seek your vet’s advice for treating your pets. Ask about the treatments that quickly kill fleas and ticks that bite your pet. Vacuum all floor surfaces daily, including upholstered furniture. Pay special attention to areas where your pets like to hang out. Wash all your pet’s bedding and any stuffed animals they play with in hot water at least once a week. You can also purchase flea traps and use flea spray.
  • Cockroaches: Be especially vigilant with housekeeping. Take out all the garbage before bed each night. Consider using sprays and baits, but use extreme caution if you have small children or pets, as these products can be highly toxic. You can also sprinkle diatomaceous earth on surfaces where cockroaches are likely to crawl.
  • Ants: As with other pests, be careful to keep your house free of garbage or food spills that may attract ants. Fix any water leaks that may be attracting them, and place ant traps in areas where you’ve seen ants.

Got A Mouse In The House?

You can often get rid of a mouse or rat infestation with basic traps. You may want to try several types and brands. If, however, the rodents keep tripping the traps without being caught, or if you continue to see signs of infestation (such as droppings or chewed food packaging) even though the traps remain untouched, it may be time to bring in the experts. Give us a call and we’ll take care of the problem for you.

What About Termites?

The chemicals required to treat a termite infestation are best handled only by trained professionals. This is one pest control job that isn’t suitable for do-it-yourselfers – the stakes are just too high, as these pests can literally destroy your house. But we can help. We use effective chemicals that are EPA-approved, and our technicians are well-trained and certified in safe usage. For homes and non-food businesses, we use a 100 percent effective treatment called Termidor.

Any Advice For Deterring Rodents?

Rats and mice need only tiny openings to get into your home. For mice, it’s an opening the size of a dime. For rats, it’s an opening the size of a quarter. Inspect your house. Find and seal even the smallest cracks and openings. Next, take these steps:

  • If you have pets, store their food in rodent-proof containers.
  • Practice basic sanitation.
  • Cover your trash cans to avoid attracting bugs and rodents.
  • Check your garage for things such as flower bulbs, grass seed, etc., that might attract pests.
